A bit about our late host’s life;
Susan Emiko Matsuda was born in Sacramento on June 9, 1953. She was the daughter of Mitsugu and Frances Matsuda, and she had an older brother Victor. Her parents ran grocery stores, and Susan grew up working in those stores, which included Big Buy Market in downtown Sacramento. In high school, she was in the yearbook committee, rally club, and Asian club. She went to the University of Pacific and got a doctorate in pharmacology. She worked at the Raley’s pharmacy chain for 32 years. She was a supervisor for many years. Susan had a fun and lively personality, and that was reflected in the things she collected. She had huge piles of collectibles in her house. She loved Peanuts, Snoopy, Mickey Mouse, Winnie the Pooh, penguins, and her little stuffed hippo Humphrey. She called her Dad “Henry” for no apparent reason. She also collected a lot of friends, and she had nicknames for everybody. Like her parents, she loved to entertain. She cooked giant feasts during the holidays. She specialized in dishes like prime rib, Turkey, taquitos (which she called cigars), guacamole, sushi, and just about anything gourmet. She also ran a part-time catering business, Just the Two of Us, with her friend Eileen Thornton.

Sue had such a fun and well loved house (that the family will also sell as soon as we empty it out) that we know you will appreciate being invited over to shop for one day only this coming Thursday June 2nd from 9am-6pm. We’ll have fair pricing from 9am-12noon, half price 12noon-4pm and boxlot pricing from 4pm-6pm on Thursday. At 6pm on Thursday lots and lots of free items will be given away from the front of the house. Bring your own boxes, wrapping and help loading.

The house is on the corner of Riverside Blvd and 9th Avenue In Land Park. Please do not bother the family who is staying at the house until the sale. We appreciate your giving them their privacy.

Thanks for your patronage and also the read,
Jen and crew
